Soulages Museum

Details of the activity

The museum houses the donation of Pierre and Colette Soulages granted to the Urban Community of Grand Rodez in 2005, one of the largest granted by an artist during his lifetime, rich in nearly 500 works and documents. Soulages granted, in 2005, with his wife Colette, an exceptional donation of 500 pieces to the Community of Greater Rodez. The works bear witness to the multitude of techniques and supports used by the artist: paper, canvas, glass, bronze or copper, printed works (etchings, lithographs, serigraphs), preparatory work for the stained glass windows of Conques, paintings on canvas and on paper (a unique set, including gouaches, inks and walnut husks), documentation, books, photographs, films, correspondence. Added to this donation in 2012 is the one made up of 14 paintings on canvas, dated from 1946 to 1948, from the 1960s and a precious Outrenoir polyptych from 1986.
